What Can Be Treated With Hypnosis?

When you think of problems and the likelihood that hypnosis will help solve them, you must consider the mind and the body as one entity. Some people believe that physical symptoms should be treated with medications, but this is not always the case. The vital evidence of this is the placebo effect! I will provide you with a list of things I have either treated with hypnosis or read about being treated successfully with hypnosis. Please do not consider this list to be exhaustive:

  • Phobias – fear of:
Spiders, snakes, mice, open spaces, confined spaces, elevators, birds, height, flying, public speaking
  • Habits:
Smoking, eating, cleaning, nail-biting, shopping, tooth grinding, thumb-sucking, hair pulling, skin picking
  • Performance improvement:
Spelling, reading, sports, charisma, speech, studying, sexual, job interviews
  • “Physical problems”:
Asthma, allergies, warts, skin problems, headaches, pain management, morning sickness, addictions, high blood pressure, stress, insomnia

Generally speaking, hypnosis can treat any problem caused by inappropriate learning that has led to limiting beliefs. Many issues are caused by a “false” understanding of the unconscious mind and physical symptoms. It’s, however, vital that you always consult your doctor for physical issues before consulting a hypnotist. Using hypnosis for pain management can relieve you from a lot of pain, but remember that pain is a signal from the body that you need to attend to something; it’s not something that should be suppressed.
